FAQs

  • Stop by the Advising Center in AG 201 or call 512-245-1490 to schedule an appointment.

  • The advising center typically has an “on call” advisor to assist with quick questions, schedule checks, forms, and removal of holds when appropriate. Long range planning, change of majors, academic standing, and GPA calculations usually require more preparation and longer discussions. In these cases, you will be required to schedule a traditional academic advising appointment.

  • The Academic Standing policy can be found in the catalog.

Students that earn less than a 2.00 TXST GPA (not overall GPA) are not in good academic standing and will be notified at the end of each semester. Resources and next steps will also be provided. If you are struggling academically, please make time to meet with an advisor.

  • A degree audit lists the requirements for your degree, including (but not limited to):

    • Minimum number of hours required
    • Advanced hours required
    • Writing intensive hours required
    • Residency hours (taken at Texas State) required
    • Core requirements
    • Major requirements
    • Minor requirements (if you have a minor)

The degree audit will note if a requirement has or has not been satisfied, or if it is in progress. Students are encouraged to use their degree audit report as a guide when planning their progress toward completion of the above requirements.

Students are encouraged to make an appointment with their advisor for assistance in interpreting their degree audit. A degree audit is not an academic transcript and it is not official notification of completion of degree or certificate requirements.
