Appointments-Late Arrivals and Nonattendance
COLLEGE OF APPLIED ARTS
ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER
NO SHOW POLICY
We kindly ask that students notify the advising center as soon as possible if an appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. Appointments can be cancelled and rescheduled via Navigate TXST, in person in AG 201, or by calling the advising center at 512-245-1490. Appointments that are not cancelled or rescheduled within 1 hour of the scheduled appointment time will be considered no-shows. After the 3rd no-show in a semester, a student will forfeit their ability to schedule an appointment and must attend a drop-in advising day (schedule TBD).
Why is this a policy?
The College of Applied Arts Academic Advising Center serves a large population of undergraduate students. The policy is intended to ensure we maximize our ability to meet with students in a limited number of available advising appointment times.
Students that call or come to the advising center to cancel or reschedule an appointment at least one hour in advance do not receive any kind of consequence for doing so.
We understand that circumstances can change unexpectedly, which is why our policy allows for three (3) unattended appointments without notice. However, a student who has missed three (3) scheduled academic advising appointments has prevented our office from assisting additional students in that scheduled timeframe.
Late Arrivals
Academic advising appointments are typically scheduled for 30 minutes. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late to your academic advising appointment you will be considered a no-show and asked to reschedule. For appointments that are scheduled for 1 hour, there is a 20 minute window before being considered a no-show and asked to reschedule. Advisors have appointments scheduled back to back and will be unable to take time from another student’s scheduled appointment.
